A seed phrase is a list of 12 or 24 words used to restore access to your wallet and manage assets on it.

Since June 2026, new wallets are created with a 12-word seed phrase by default (previously 24). This is purely a convenience change—12-word and 24-word phrases are equally safe and reliable. Losing your seed phrase means losing access to your wallet, so it's crucial to choose the best method for storing it.

🔐 How to Store a Seed Phrase?

Here are several options:

Screenshot or photo on the device you use to access your wallet Not recommended—this is unsafe.

Screenshot on a device you don't use to access your wallet Slightly better, but still not perfect.

Password management apps Convenient, but you need to be extra cautious.

Store it on offline digital storage Excellent. Encrypt the storage for extra security.

Write it down on paper A good option if stored in a secure location.

Each method has its pros and cons. Keep in mind that devices with internet access can be hacked, and paper can be physically damaged.

We recommend periodically checking your seed phrase to ensure it's correctly written down and that you can always restore access to your wallet.
